Woven Wood Blinds – The Best Places to Buy Them and What to Look For

Looking to add a new, special addition to the interior or your home? If so, then you should consider checkout woven wood blinds. These are also called other names such as matchstick blinds or bamboo shutters. These blinds have a wonderful natural look that can really bring out the beauty of any room that has the right type of interior decorating. There are several features and characteristics of wooden blinds that will be helpful for you to be aware of during the process of finding the perfect ones for you. Lets take a look at a few of them.

Benefits

These wooden blinds can be adapted to just about any type of window in your home that you would like. This can be a job that you do yourself if you know how or you can hire a company that specializes in doing this. Some people like to have woven wood shades cover windows in their porch, patio, living room, kitchen, bathroom, etc.

They are also great for giving you an extra sense of privacy. When you fully close the blinds you make it very difficult for anyone to see into your home. For anyone looking for privacy, this is an excellent feature. This same feature also lets you control how much light shines through your windows. When the horizontal slats are fully closed, you can create a near blackout condition inside your home.

This is great for anyone who wants to take nap during the day and wants the room to be nice and dark. Likewise, you can also fully illuminate any room in sunlight when you open the slats all the way. These blinds are very adaptable and useful in many ways.

Materials

These blinds can actually be made from several types of materials that include reeds, matchsticks, bamboo, and more. You can even get faux wood blinds, which look like the real thing but are actually made from a photo of wood that is place in between two clear horizontal slats. Any of these materials can be custom fitted to just about any type of window you choose. There is a type of blind called “mini blinds”, which refers to smaller windows.

Places to buy them

Many people like to buy their woven wood blinds from on line vendors. This is a great place to get cheap and discounted versions. Just be sure you know all your measurements and you know how to install them yourself before doing this. You can also shop at local stores such as Lowes or Home Depot. This is a great option for anyone who wants to be able to see and feel the product before buying it.

All in all, woven wood blinds provide a nice natural and rustic look for the interior of your home. They can vary greatly in price, but can be found to fit just about any budget. When you find the perfect set for your home you will likely have them for many years because they are very durable. Keep looking until you find the right style, design, and color and you surely will not be disappointed.

How to Choose the Right Wood Slat Size

When you are deciding between wood blinds, one of the most important factors to consider is slat size. Depending on what type of window application you are decorating, you will need a certain size horizontal, wooden slat. Many shoppers base their purchase decisions on features such as color or operation; however slat size is often an afterthought. In reality, the slat size you choose will be essential to the light control, function, and decor of your windows. This article will give you some helpful information on what slat size to choose for your blinds given your window style, size, and location in your home.

If you have very small windows or patio doors you should consider using 1 inch wood blinds, often referred to as wood mini blinds. Smaller windows require a smaller slat size for both style and functional purposes. Large, heavy slats would not fit a small window properly and would not allow enough light to filter in, even when the blinds are fully open. One inch wooden blinds are also perfect for patio doors because they do not interfere with the use of the handle and hang tight against the door for a sleek, uncluttered look.

The most popular size is the 2 inch wood blinds. This slat size can be applied to most average sized windows, offering a classic look that is perfect for more traditional homes. These blinds provide great privacy and light control for your bedroom or living room. Horizontal slats can be tilted for maximum privacy and also customized with a route-less tracking system to completely black out your room. A route-less track eliminates the spaces for the cord to run through, preventing any light seepage through the blind. Many different types of windows in your home will benefit from the addition of 2 inch blinds.

For the large windows in your home I would highly recommend 2 1/2 inch wood blinds. These large slats will match very well with your large windows and will let a considerable amount of light in when open. Since there is more surface area for each slat, fewer blinds are needed to cover your large windows providing a very clean, elegant look. If your window is very large or hard-to-reach you should consider customizing your 2 1/2 inch blinds with a motorization feature. Once motorization is installed you will be able to conveniently control your blinds with a remote control while sitting down, even from another room.

In between these three very common slat sizes are 1 3/8 and 2 3/8 wood blinds. These mid sizes are for made those who prefer a slight variance in view through ability from the standard sized wood slats.

Before you make your final decision be sure to keep in mind which slat size will work best for your windows. Hopefully this article will be useful in your shopping process for wood blinds. Whether you have small windows, large windows, door windows, or anything in between there is a slat size that is just right for you.

When shopping for wood blinds remember that slat size is very important. If you have small windows or patio doors consider 1 inch wood blinds, for average-sized windows you should probably use 2 inch wood blinds, and for large windows I suggest 2 1/2 inch wood blinds.
