Some people choose not to use their fireplace as a place to build a fire, usually for warmth, for various reasons. A fireplace can still be used to add some style to a room, even if its not being used to radiate heat into your home. Fortunately, there plenty of ways to add some interest to a room by decorating the inside of a fireplace.
Fill the Fireplace with Candles
Place several different pillar candles of all different sizes in the fireplace and light them. Now you can still get some warmth and light from the fireplace without having to build a fire in it. You want to be sure that the candles are on fireproof plates or containers. You can add even more interest to the fireplace by choosing decorative plates and holders. Candle make a terrific decor piece, whether they’re lit or unlit. Stick with all plain or off-white candles, or if youre feeling a little adventurous mix up different colors and styles.
Add a Flower Arrangement inside the Fireplace
Adding a large flower arrangement to the inside of your fireplace is a great way to add some color to things. For an added touch, use a decorative basket or vase to hold the flowers. Just be sure to measure the opening of the fireplace before buying or making your arrangement. In order to keep it from seeming too overpowering, it should be kept several inches away from the inside walls. A T-shaped arrangement usually makes the best fit inside the fireplace.
Use a Decorative Fireplace Screen for the Area
If you’d rather not see the inside of your fireplace, place a nice decorative fireplace over the opening. There are some very nice screens available in a variety of different styles. You should have very little difficulty finding one that goes well with the style of the fireplace and matches the dcor of your room. If you have a really old fireplace and havent gotten around to refinishing it yet, then this is a great option.
Make It Look Like a Real Fireplace with Wood Logs
Your fireplace can still be enjoyed, even if you dont light it. All you need to do is add some nice real or fake wood logs and arrange them in a pleasing pattern. Guests in your home wont even be able to tell if the fireplace doesnt work or if you simply dont use it. Just be sure to clean the fireplace before putting the logs in there. Then you will be able to enjoy the scene without the hassle of a real fire.
No matter the reason why you dont use your fireplace, you dont want to let that instant attention grabber go to waste. Try one of these ideas to decorate the inside of the fireplace. In doing so, you’ll be able to add more style and originality to your decor.
